Thelma Ann Stibley, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 9, 1949, in Casper, Wyoming, Thelma was the daughter of Mildred and Albert Story.
Thelma Story and Ed Stibley were wed on June 4, 1966, when she was just 16. Thelma completed 11th grade and went on to make her mark as a dedicated professional, retiring from Wyoming Medical Center nutrition services in 2011. After her retirement, she cleaned houses, forging lasting friendships with those she serviced, a testament to her caring and loving personality. Her warmth and humor touched the lives of many who knew her.
She took immense pride in her family, relishing in the accomplishments of her two children, Cory and April. The happiest moments of her life were spent celebrating milestones, particularly watching her children and grandchildren graduate high school and being a guiding light for her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Thelma’s personality was as vibrant as her interests; she was sweet, caring, loving, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She found joy in fishing, camping, crocheting, reading her Bible, and doing word searches. A fan of classic television and movies, she loved watching MeTv, particularly enjoying the old-time movies, Sveengoolie on Saturday nights, The Three Stooges, M*A*S*H, The Beverly Hillbillies, and more.
Thelma is survived by her two children, Cory (Julie) Stibley and April Holmes, grandchildren, Trevor (Marrissa) Holmes, Heather Stibley, Kayla Stibley, Nevaeh Nelson, and Melissa Holmes step-mom, Barbara Lee, great-grandchildren, Michel, Nicholie, and Clyde, sisters, Barbara Jo Brown (Glen), Donna Hawthorne (Clay), Ronna Pierce, Teresa Lobdell, Ann Penton, and her brother Cliff Story (Janet). She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever reside in the hearts of her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Stibley, her beloved parents Mildred and Albert Story, son-in-law Doug Holmes, sister Susie Walters, grandparents, a brother-in-law Ken Pierce, sister-in-law Lorene Bennett, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, along with many aunts and uncles.
Friends and family are invited to honor Thelma’s memory during a memorial service at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home in Casper, WY, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the committal service at Bustard and Jacoby Reception Center where the family invites you to join them for refreshments and sharing of your favorite memories.
Thelma Ann Stibley will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared.
