Theodore “Ted” Louis Gilbert, 90, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on July 5, 2026, in Casper. Ted was born in Laramie, Wyoming, to Carl and Nellie Gilbert on November 6, 1935. He graduated from University High School in Laramie in 1953 and went on to earn a B.S. in Agriculture and Engineering from the University of Wyoming. He worked as an Ag Engineer for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for 35 years, receiving multiple awards for his work. He enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing games, and spending time with family. He was always available for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a diehard Wyoming Cowboys fan, yet suffered a number of years supporting the Cleveland Browns and Indians, now the Guardians. He was involved in numerous activities at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and received a number of awards for his involvement in supporting his kids in scouting, youth baseball, and the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. His involvement included serving on the board of directors, volunteering with Trooper Bingo, and following the corps each summer selling souvenirs. Ted is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gertraud “Traute” Gilbert of Casper; brother, Jack Gilbert (Lucia); sister-in-law, Carol Gilbert; sons, Karl Gilbert (Donna) of Denver, Colorado, Kurt Gilbert (Lara) of Casper, Kent Gilbert (Leslie) of Frisco, Texas, and Kyle Gilbert of Red Lodge, Montana; daughter, Kari Gilbert of Casper; six grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nellie Gilbert, and his brother, William Gilbert. A celebration of life will be held Saturday August 22, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church or the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. The family would like to thank the staff at Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions for the loving care they provided Ted.
