W.C. Mapp, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 79. Surrounded by the family he adored, W.C. left behind a legacy of service, athletic excellence, and a heart that knew no bounds.
Born on October 5, 1946, in Newton, Mississippi, to R.W. and Fannie Ree Mapp, W.C. moved to Casper as a young boy. It was here that he truly planted his roots, spending 76 vibrant years woven into the fabric of the community. A proud graduate of Natrona County High School, W.C. continued his journey at Casper College and Black Hills State University.
W.C. was a natural athlete with a competitive spirit and a graceful stride. One of his proudest milestones was his induction into the Black Hills State Hall of Fame as a member of their legendary 1970 track team—a testament to the dedication and speed that defined his youth.
Professionally, W.C. was a skilled Journeyman, Electrician and a proud member of the IBEW Local Union 322 for 41+years. He was respected for his work ethic and precision until his well-earned retirement. But it was his "after-hours" work that truly defined him. Known for a legendary "drop-everything" brand of kindness, W.C. was the first person to show up whenever a friend, neighbor, or stranger was in need. Whether it was a midnight phone call or a midday crisis, W.C. was there with a steady hand and a compassionate soul.
His greatest joy, however, was his family. W.C. is survived by his children: Eric Mapp, Gina Harvey, Rayna Rodriguez, Dubb Mapp, and Gabriel Ravndahl; his siblings, Roy Mapp and Gerthleen Spivey Mapp; brother in law DW Epps and his seven cherished grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews who will forever miss his presence. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Alice Epps, and his longtime partner, Mary Valstad.
A celebration of W.C.’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery.
In honor of W.C., the family asks that you perform an unexpected act of kindness for someone today—just as he would have done.
