Wesley Sims

Wesley Arnold Sims died peacefully, surrounded by his family on December 15, 2020 in Casper, WY at the age of 68.

Wes was born on May 26, 1952 in Riverton, WY to Glen and Ruth Sims. He graduated from Wind River High School in 1970.  Wes joined the United States Army where he assembled missiles and rockets.  While serving in the Army, he met his wife Ilse Weiss in Lawton, OK.  He married an “Army Brat”, Ilse Weiss in 1975. After moving to Gas Hills, WY, Wes began working for Federal American Partners as a miner.  After two years they moved to Pavillion, WY where Wes began his career with the Bureau of Reclamation, a perfect fit for his love of the outdoors. He retired in 2018 to enjoy time with his family. The couple welcomed two children, a son Cory Sims and daughter Misty Sims into their home and Wes set about teaching them hunting, camping, fishing skills, the value of hard work, and an honest lifestyle. His children remember him as a kind and very patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Wes was an accomplished outdoorsman and was often found hunting and fishing in the mountains or watching old westerns. He was a generous individual who loved his family.

Wes is survived by his children, Cory Sims (Ginger Sims) of Casper, WY, Misty Sims of Casper, WY, grandchildren, Kiara Sims (Misty) Bridgett Sims (Cory), Anthony Sims (Cory), Dominick Sims (Cory) and Lucas Sims (Cory), Ex-wife Ilse Sims, Sister Dorothy Siroky (Frankie) of Roy, MT, brother Dale Sims of Riverton, WY, brother-in-laws Jerry Bisbee of Riverton (Alice Bisbee) Larry Glasgow (Doris Glasgow) of Sturgis South Dakota, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents Glen Sims and Ruth Sims (Nolls) of Winnett, MT, sisters Doris Glasgow SD, and Alice Bisbee of Riverton, WY.

No services planned per his request. A private family service will be planned at a later date.
