Barbara Luverne Langseth Carruthers, 76, passed peacefully from this world and into the loving arms of her Savior on July 15, 2020 in Casper, WY. Born in Taunton, MA on May 2, 1944 to Lee and Ester (Salo) Langseth, Barbara later moved with her family to East Hartford, CT where she graduated from East Hartford High School in 1962. Continuing her education, Barbara earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State College before joining the Women’s Army Corp in 1967.  After years of service to her country, and having received the National Defense Service Medal, Barbara honorably separated from the Army as a Captain in 1970 and married her college sweetheart, John A. Carruthers. While raising a family, Barbara continued to excel academically, earning an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s Degree in Special Education.

Barbara worked as a teacher and substitute teacher, and enjoyed giving back to the community by volunteering with the Special Olympics and at the New Hampshire Farm Museum. She was especially proud of her service to her country, continuing to serve her fellow Veterans in the Honor Guard. In her personal time, Barbara was a talented artist and enjoyed oil painting, textile arts, stained glass work, and jewelry making.

Barbara was preceded in death by the love of her life, John A. Carruthers, her brother Charles Langseth, and her parents. She is survived by her three children, Edward L. Carruthers and his wife Christina, Jennifer L. Dockstader and her husband Toby, and Margaret E. Booth and her husband Michael; her brother Richard Langseth and his wife Jo-Ann; her 14 grandchildren, Cynthya, Amy, Cheyenna, Haanna, Katherine, Elisabeth, Edison, Mayauna, Stirling, Makiah, Quinn, Malachi, Isaac, and Isaiah; and one great-grandchild, Harvey.
