Carl Schaffer

November 28, 1945 — April 22, 2021

Carl Stephen "Steve" Schaffer, (aka "Chris"), passed on April 22, 2021 at the Wyoming Medical Center. He was 75 years young. In spite of the cancer that tried its best to take him out, it was finally complications from chemo and pneumonia that won the battle. He had the biggest heart, and would do nearly anything for others, so he was well liked and had many friends with whom he could talk endlessly about cars, and tell lies about legendary fish and elk that somehow got away. He spent four years in the US Navy, serving on the USS George Bancroft submarine out of Groton, Connecticut, and honing his colorful vocabulary. He was a mentor for the Pop In The Shop program, which taught many kids how to tinker on and repair cars. Of course he was not all sunshine and rainbows, as he could be cranky and stubborn, and not only loved to tell off-color jokes, but also enjoyed repeatedly watching every John Wayne/cowboy movie ever made at "way too high" a volume. His other hobbies included wheeling and dealing on car parts (and other stuff he probably didn't need), constantly fixing something or other, and driving everything he owned like he stole it. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie Siragusa Schaffer; his two daughters, Heidi Yvonne Schaffer, and Krista Schaffer Werner; his (spitting-image) grandson, Kristopher Carl Schaffer; his granddaughter, Gretchen Rose Werner; his nephew, Sydney Paul Webb and family; and three broken hearted doggies. We will all miss him terribly and cannot help but hope that all the cars in heaven have big blocks, the fish are always biting, and the elk are enormous and have at least 6 points.

Services will be held at a  later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home , 600 CY Ave. Casper, WY 82601.
