Clotile Johnson

July 3, 1943 — January 10, 2022

Mother Clotile "Babychild" Olivia Johnson of Casper, departed from this earthly life and was called home January 10, 2022, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with Stage 5 renal disease. She was born on July 3, 1943 to James Brown and Hattie Bell in St. Louis, Missouri.

Clotile attended and graduated Vashon High School, at the age of 15 in St. Louis, Missouri. She then attended Triton College in Chicago, Illinois and pursued a degree in nursing.

Clotile put her nursing career on hold to raise 9 of her grandchildren, whom she and her late husband Pastor Louis Johnson adopted. She put God first in her life. She was a faithful servant of God, telling the people of his good works whenever she could, and encouraging people to give their life to God, because he would never fail them. She loved to travel all across the country, meeting new people everywhere she went. She was an avid reader and she could be found reading anything from her Bible, to James Patterson. She enjoyed dressing in her Sunday Best and listening to gospel music. Cooking was her first love, and she made some of the best greens, fried chicken, cornbread, along with many other dishes, no one could compete with. She volunteered her time to help those in need, and she made sure that those she knew and loved, even strangers, never went hungry.

Anyone that knew Clotile, knew she was a force to be reckoned with. She told you the truth, even when you didn't want to hear it. Nothing was sugarcoated. She was intelligent, strong, fierce, kind hearted, generous and had a spectacular sense of humor. She was full of life and energy. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and her favorites were Vaughn "with his bad self" as she would say, Willa "her baby" and Jazzlynn "Honey boo boo".

Some of Clotile's famous quotes and favorite scriptures included:

No weapon formed against me shall prosper.

The devil is a lie.

Seldom visits, make stiffer friends.

The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall, I fear.

If you dig one ditch, you dig two.

Clotile was preceded in death by her husband Pastor Louis Johnson, son Thomas Johnson; granddaughter Ebony Montgomery; parents James Brown, Hattie Bell; siblings Yvonne Sanders, Rita Ann Sledge, James Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Monique Johnson, Ikeea (Jed) Seidel, Michelle (Troy Mitchell), Jasmine Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Shamika Johnson, Tawanda (Gloria) Montgomery, Ellison (George) Roseburr, Ruby Montgomery, Carla (Melvin) Keith; Sons Dante Johnson.

Grandchildren: Ieesha, Willa, Jazzlynn, Vaughn, Zeron, Robin, Daisirai, Erica, Eric Jr., Derrick, Trevin.

Siblings: Maurice (Christine) Smith, Linda (Sammy) Smith, Nena Muslim (Denise) (Joli), Karen Birdsong, Cassandra Smith, Craig (Donella) Smith,  Bruce (Rita) Smith, Paula (Tremain) Shelton; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Even though she didn't get the thanks and credit she deserved, she remained a forgiving and loving woman.

Clotile was a woman of faith and her journey has just begun. Although our hearts are broken and our lives forever changed, we will honor her legacy. She is deeply loved and will be missed by so many.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Buhuro, Dr. Neff, and Dr. Mickelson.
