Donald Gilmore

December 25, 1935 — January 2, 2021

Presentation of Life

Suffragan Bishop Donald Lynn Gilmore Sr. was born in Muscatine, Iowa, on December 25, 1935, to Robert Brady Gilmore and Dorothea Grace Mesher Dankert Gilmore. After birth, he was placed under the Christmas tree. Donald Gilmore also lived in Wisconsin; the family eventually moved to Rock Island, Illinois, and he graduated from Rock Island High School in 1953. While in junior high and high school, he was an accomplished saxophone player in the marching band for football games.

Donald Gilmore was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Merry Carol Edwards (also born on Christmas Day, 1935) on September 4, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To this union were born twelve children.

He was a hard-working man who labored and provided well for his family while also faithful in ministry. He was a diesel mechanic for the railroad, employed at the Rock Island Lines, in Silvis, Illinois. His father was previously employed at the Rock Island Lines. He was a skilled diesel mechanic in engine rebuild while also working a part-time job, along with responsibilities as Assistant Pastor. As time went on, he started a successful steam cleaning business called Gilmore’s Steam Cleaning. For several years, he also was a truck driver for Casper Star Tribune, delivering newspapers and the United States Postal Service mail to various small-town stops in rural Wyoming.

In 1978 Suffragan Bishop Gilmore moved his family to Casper, Wyoming to open the True Apostolic Church. He pastored many years until, due to health reasons, had the need to retire. He continued studying the Word of God and enjoyed devotional time with his family.

Suffragan Bishop Gilmore was a devoted husband and loving father. He directed his family to the Lord and held steadfast and unmovable to the Oneness doctrine of Jesus Christ. He loved traveling, fishing, dining out and discussing the Holy Scriptures.

Suffragan Bishop Gilmore completed his work on earth and transitioned to glory to be with the Lord on January 2, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memory and honor his legacy: his wife of 66 years, Mother Merry Gilmore, Wendy (Armand) of Lakewood, Colorado; Donna (LD), Omaha, Nebraska; Randy, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Robert (Diana), Timothy (Janell), Donald Jr. (Sally), and Cynthia of Casper, Wyoming; Deanna (Kent), Tucson, Arizona; Glen (Dixie) and

Richard (Rachel), Gastonia, North Carolina; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, saints and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Paul Eugene Gilmore, daughter Angelina Mae Gilmore, daughter-in-law Mary Gilmore and cousin Georgia Mesher.
