Jesse Barrett, Jr.

October 31, 1928 — September 14, 2020

JESSE MacLEMORE BARRETT, JR., 91, of Casper, Wyoming (formerly of Upper Darby, PA), passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, September 14, 2020. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Catherine F. Barrett (nee Froelich) and his brother Joseph Johnson Barrett. He is survived by his brother Cecil Reese Barrett of Mechanicsville, VA, daughter Linda Jean Barrett Gatza (Brian) of Casper, WY, and son Daniel Clinton Barrett, of Upper Darby, PA. He was the cherished grandfather of Rebecca (Gatza) Nedved and Peter Barrett Gatza and great-grandfather (GG) to Justin (4) and Connor (2) Nedved.

Jesse was born at home in Philadelphia on October 31, 1928. He was the oldest of three boys born to Jesse MacLemore Barrett and Philena Miller Barrett. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Catherine Louise Froelich. Jesse served in the United States Army for two years in Korea before returning to his home in Cream Ridge, NJ, where he and Catherine lived while he was in the employ of E. W. Harvey, the owner of a dairy-peach farm. In 1965, he moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia and began working for Wawa Dairy located in Wawa, Pennsylvania where he worked until his retirement in 1993. After the death of his wife in 2011, he moved cross-country to live in Casper, WY, where he had the unique opportunity to develop relationships with his now-adult grandchildren.

Jesse had a love of coins, old and new, and his granddaughter delighted in bringing him her change for him to sort. Jesse always had a story to tell anyone who would take time to listen. His stories were full of history and were fascinating to the hearer. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten by anyone who knew him.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home , 600 CY Avenue, Casper, WY 82601.
