Shirley Robertson

July 27, 1935 — December 31, 2020

Shirley (Jucknath) Robertson (1935-2020) was born in Midwest, Wyoming on July 27,1935 to George and Elizabeth Jucknath, who had immigrated from Prussia (Germany) and Holland.  She grew up with one brother, Roy Jucknath, deceased.  Shirley attended grade school and high school in Midwest.   Her childhood job was delivering papers at the gas plant camp.  In her teens she was an usher and cashier at the Midwest Theater.  After being in the first graduating class from the Casper College nursing program with an RN degree, she worked at Wyoming Medical Center for nearly 40 years.

George Robertson and Shirley were married on September 5, 1954.  They were married for 61 years, before George passed.  They had four children: Randall Robertson, Rebecca Andrews, Rita Jackson (Brett) and Elizabeth Rubinstein (Barry); 3 grandchildren, Skye Watts (Shawn), Chris Andrews (Kristen) and Jeremiah Jackson; 3 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Bailey Watts and Aubree Andrews, all of whom she loved to spoil.

When she was young, she loved to ski, especially in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  She also rode horses as often as she could, including her own childhood horse.  Shirley treasured her time shopping, fishing, boating, camping, her dog PomPom, along with bowling, bingo, traveling and watching the Las Vegas shows.  She also enjoyed going to the movies, playing cards (especially the game “Hand and Foot”).  Most of all, she loved the time spent with family, dinners, presents and parties.  She was famous for her Yellow Jello and Tuna Noodle Casserole.  Yellow Jello came with her to every holiday gathering.

She wintered in Las Vegas for 20 years where she taught AWANAS for four of those years at the Spring Valley Baptist Church.  She also loved her bible study ladies from groups in both Casper and Las Vegas.  While being a snowbird in Las Vegas, she was the secretary of the Arbor Lane Home Maintenance Organization in her neighborhood for over 15 years, which she enjoyed being a part of.

Her travels took her to all 50 states, Europe, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Australia, Israel, Scotland and Ireland.  She took three Caribbean cruises.  One cruise was through the Panama Canal, Columbia, South America, Central America, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Mexico.  When in Mexico, they enjoyed border towns for shopping, but also ventured to other parts of Mexico to visit beaches.  She loved shopping for treasures to take home as memories of their travels.

She also cruised to Alaska.  She loved it when her family would go with her on these travels. One memorable family trip was driving their newly purchased Itasca Motorhome to Alaska.  The trip lasted one month.  They used their Itasca to travel all over the United States, where Shirley made it feel like “home on the road”.

Shirley was compassionate, loving, giving and generous.  Her loving heart was bigger than life and her selflessness and compassion for others was unmatched.  This made her a wonderful nurse, mother and wife!

Shirley passed away on the evening of December 31, 2020.  She loved the Lord and is with Him now, warm in the light of Jesus, away from the cold Wyoming wind!
