Sterling Park

March 6, 1984 — February 20, 2020

Sterling Shane Park unexpectedly passed away on 02/20/20 at approximately 07:35 am as his Heavenly Father cradled him lovingly in his arms. Sterling was a mixture of all things high energy. He loved fast cars, loud jams (he was a juggalo for those who know), and all things Silver. One of his first crushes was Dad’s 1968 Camaro. With that infatuation came a lifelong love affair with just about every facet of the automotive world. It also inspired Sterling to pursue some college course credit while in High School as well as picking up an evening job with Kenny Rogers Roasters at the hearty age of 15 so he could save up some cash for his first car. I’ve heard Ster describe a sleek automobile as “Sexy” on more occasions than I can count. In one hilarious display he even gave a playful slap to a photograph in a magazine. When I say he loved cars I really mean it. It was also around these formative years that Sterling was introduced to a Horror Rap group known as the Insane Clown Posse by our Big Brother Jesse. It was entirely normal to hear Sterling mimicking his favorite rap duo regaling all in attendance with such hits as the Great Malenko, Chicken Huntin’, and Homies. Sterling possessed an unbeatable work ethic and drive (with proper motivation) always keeping his ride in pristine condition and ensuring that he was flossin’ (That’s dressed well for you elderly folks). I would marvel as I watched him iron his Levi’s, collared shirt, and then ensure his chain, complete with Hatchet Man pendant, were perfectly in place. Sterling was charming, charismatic, and could make friends easily. He truly valued his friendships and was seldom, if ever, found alone. Always going here or there to drop by and say what’s up. This very trait lead him to one of the great pinnacles of life as he found a special young lady and they welcomed a Son and Daughter into their lives. Sterling loved his children and there is no greater example of that than his boy Damian or his selfless service and devotion to his Daughter Savanna. If Damian were anymore like Sterling you would swear he had been cloned. Sterling was always ready, willing, and able to lend a helping hand to his friends. The passion and fervor with which he tackled life was amply applied to whatever he set his mind to and boy could my Brother hustle and grind.

In an honest and unfiltered way I must also acknowledge that life is filled with many trials and challenges. Sterling was no stranger to this universal truth. I believe this can be summed up very well in the words of another of his favorite musical groups Twiztid from the song “We Don’t Die”, ”It's hard to explain the element of my self inflicted pain we’re not positive, and upliftin' f*** you walk a mile in our shoes.” Sterling was a fighter. He struggled every day to find his place on this earth. Bravely moving forward scars borne for all to see. I just hope that when we think of him our thoughts can be guided by his virtues and not his vices. We love you Sterling and look forward to seeing you again. He is survived by his Parents Shane and Kayleen Park, his Son Damian, and Brother Joshua. Sterling was preceded in death by his Daughter Savanna and Sister Ashley Lavering. He is already and will be sorely missed may he Rest In Peace and awaken unto a glorious resurrection.
