Wanda Atkinson

February 19, 1964 — November 6, 2021

It is with great sorrow that we announce our beloved Wanda has passed away on Saturday, November 6, at Wyoming Medical Center due to complications from Covid.

Born in Vernal, UT, to parents, Gale and Priscilla Land, who were very surprised when baby ‘Wanda’ was born 5 minutes after her twin sister ‘Rhonda.’ Wanda was raised in Casper, WY where she attended Garfield, Cresthill, and Southridge Elementary Schools. She also attended CY Junior High, and graduated Class of 1982 at Natrona County High School.

Wanda started working at the age of 14 years old at Deli Heaven. She also worked for Casper Orthopedics, was a Caretaker for Marcelle Torczyner- who she loved with all her heart--, followed by Wear Parts, Mountain Plaza Assisted Living, and currently for Southridge Elementary and Target.

On the 20th of April 1996, she married T.K. Atkinson, and they had 2 sons, Clayton and Wyatt, the true loves of her life. Her whole heart was dedicated to her sons. “Loud and Proud” was her motto, forever their number one fan. Wanda took great pride in being their mom. Teaching her boys to dance made her heart so happy, she could have 2 stepped and jitterbugged across Wyoming with them.

Wanda loved to dress nice and always looked so beautiful in all her fashionable clothes, shoes, and matching jewelry. She could always be found cheering on her sons, nieces, and nephews at all of their events.

Everyone that met Wanda had an instant love for her from 4-H families, Wrestling families, and cowboy families. She was the kind of friend that if you had a favorite thing, she would go to the end of the earth to find it for you. Everything Wanda did, she did with her whole heart.

Wanda is preceded in death by her infant brother, Gale John, and her grandparents, Amadeo and Francis Sisneros and Veryl and Maxine Land.

She is survived by her “little boys” Clayton and Wyatt, parents, Gale and Priscilla, sisters, Rhonda (Dave) Mundorf, Becky Land (Rick), brother, Bryan (Bobbie) Land, Nephew, Matthew (Iveeth) Gifford, Nieces, Acacia (Justin) Orr, Ashlee (Matt) Clark and Mackenzie Tille (fiancé Austin Luers), Great-Nephews, Grayson Gifford, Hunter and Harrison Orr, and Great-Nieces, Harper Orr, and Sophie Gifford. For whom she was affectionately referred to as “BUDDY”.  Wanda is also survived by her loving boyfriend Mark Ningen, the father of her sons’ T.K. Atkinson, and many close friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 2021, at the Restoration Church at 10 o’clock. A celebration of life will follow at Yellowstone Garage at 5 O’clock.

In lieu of flowers of memorial fund is being set for Clayton and Wyatt Atkinson at First Interstate Bank.
